On July 14 at Radnor Elementary School, 43 players took part in the July Joust chess tournament.
In the K-3 section, Joshua Hagerty of Simmons Elementary took first place with a 4-0 score. He was followed by Charlie McKenzie-Smith of Friends School Haverford at 3.5-.5. The top unrated player was 1st-grader Kevin Zhou, scoring 2-2. In the K-8, 6th grader Zhenhao Li of Masterman went 4-0 to win the tournament, including a last-round defeat of top seed Tommy Guo, who took second place at 3-1. The top unrated player was Sergiy Pliss, going 2-2. The winning team in both sections was Simmons Elementary school of Horsham, PA. |
