U.S. Open Results

As we near the halfway mark at the 2008 U.S. Open, Silver Knights coach and IM Michael Mulyar is undefeated with a 4-0 score. Michael has tied for first at two prior U.S. Opens, so he clearly plays well in the one game per day format. We wish him good luck in the rest of the tournament.

FM Dan Yeager, another Silver Knights instructor, won the Arnold Denker Tournament of High School Champions with a score of 5-1. Dan gave up two draws and took first place on tiebreaks over Julian Landaw of California and Scott Low of Maryland. The Denker tournament is a prestigious, invitation-only event open to the high school champions of each of the 50 states. With the Denker title and the open K-12 championship that he won in the spring, Dan has established himself as the dominant high school chessplayer in the country during 2008. Congratulations to Dan on another great result!
