In the last major tournament of the school year, 22 Four-player teams competed at the Silver Knights Cup team tournament on Sunday, May 15, at Radnor Middle School. "What's a Pawn to King Four?" and New Hope Academy Team 1 tied for first place with 3.5/4 match points, with the "What's a Pawn to King Four?" winning on tiebreaks.
After the main event, eight players competed in a round-robin blitz tournament, with Silver Knights coach Daniel Weissbarth sporting a perfect 7-0 score to emerge victorious. (USCF Rating Report)

Tournament Results - Virginia Team Tournament |

At the Silver Knights Team Tournament in Vienna, there were close to a
hundred competitors from a dozen different schools. In the end, the
winning team came from Wolftrap Elementary. Not only did they win all
four matches as a team, they won fifteen out a possible sixteen
individual games! St Leo the Great took second place, with Jack Dunbar
who won all his games. Jack Vogt led Franklin
Sherman to a third place
finish with a perfect score, as did Alan Kittell
at Virginia Run. There
was a huge tie for fifth place, but Lee's Corner emerged on tiebreaks
as the leader of a pack that included Stafford Homeschool, Haycock,
Virginia Run B, St Leo B, OLGC, and OLGC B, who
all tied with 2.5

USCF Ratin Report
Sixty players competed in the 2010 Spring Finale chess tournament at Wayne Elementary Schoo on April 24. Ryan Schiller took first place with a 4-0 score, followed by Michael Sydnes and James Strommer at 3-1. Tom McKenzie-Smith won the K-6 U/700 section, and Caleb Zhang was victorious in the Unrated group.

Tournament Results - Friday Night Action #16 |

USCF Rating Report
On April 16th, 13 players competed in the 16th Friday Night Action. The
event was won by National Master Peter Minear with a perfect 4.0 - 0.0
score. The U1400 prize was shared by 3 players, Jakes Britchkow, Teddy
Willis, and Robert Alan Yoffee, all going 3.0 - 1.0.

USCF Rating Report
Forty-two players met in Doylestown for the April Showers tournament on
April 11th. Malcolm Hillman won the K-12 section with a perfect 4-0
score. Robert Yoffee came in second at 2.5-1.5. In the K-6 U700
section, Steven Natto went 4-0, with Kevin Xiao finishing a close second
with a 3.5-0.5. Nitin Balusu won the Unrated K-3 section with a
perfect score of 3-0. The Unrated 4-8 section was won by Ellen
Troyanosky with a score of 2.5 - 0.5. We look forward to seeing
everyone at the last individual tournament of the spring, the Spring
Finale, in Wayne on the 24th of April.

Tournament Results - Friday Night Action #15 |

USCF Rating Report
The 15th Friday Night Action met this past Friday in King of Prussia, PA.
National Master Peter Minear won the event with
a perfect 4-0 score. Joshua Bresler and Joseph Mucerino tied for second place at 3-1, with Joshua winning the
U1400 prize.
