2010 Greater Philadelphia Scholastic Chess Championships

The Greater Philadelphia Scholastic Chess Championship has five sections: K-1, K-3, K-6, K-8, and K-12.

 

K-1, K-3, and K-6 Sections:

Five rounds at G/30; 10:00-11:05-12:30-1:45-3:00. Trophies to top players and school teams (team score = top 4 scoring players from the school). All players in K-1, K-3, and K-6 sections receive a trophy.

K-8 and K-12 Sections:

Four rounds at G/60; 10:00-12:30-2:30-4:30. Trophies to top players and school teams (team score = top 4 scoring players from the school).

The winner of K-12 section is seeded into the Greater Phildelphia Junior Invitational as long as they live within about 50 miles of center city Philadelphia. This event is held every year in June, and the projected prize fund is $2,000!

Accelerated pairings may be used in some sections if necessary.

FREE game analysis for all scholastic players by the 2008 Pennsylvania State Chess Champion, NM Peter Minear.

Online registration is $30 by Wednesday, March 17 or $35 by noon Friday, March 19. Registration by mail is $35. On-site registration ($40) is from 9:00 - 9:30. On-site registrations after 9:30 will be given a half-point bye in the first round.

The most up-to-date ratings possible will be used for this tournament. Up to 2 half-point byes may be taken; additional byes will be for zero points. Chess sets are provided, but bring a clock if you have one. Click here to view Tournament FAQs.
