This is a four-round, non-elimination chess tournament for grades K-12. Players choose one of the following four sections, based on their age and rating:

K-12 Championship (U.S. Chess Federation Rated)
     This section is for older playes or younger players that are more advanced and have prior tournament experience.

K-6 U/700 (U.S. Chess Federation Rated)
     This section is for players in grades 6 and under that have progressed beyond the beginner stage but are not ready for the Championship section yet.

K-3 Unrated
     This section is for players in grades 3 and below who are beginners or who have never played in a tournament before. Players that are USCF-rated are not eligible for this section.

4-8 Unrated
     This section is for players in grades 4 through 8 who are beginners or who have never played in a tournament before. Players that are USCF-rated are not eligible for this section.


Time control: G/30 (G/15 for unrated sections). Rounds begin at 1:00 for rated sections and 3:00 for unrated sections. Up to two 1/2-point byes available in rated sections. Tournament will end with an awards ceremony around 5:00, where the top individual players and school teams will receive trophies.

USCF membership required for rated sections. Click here to check for an existing USCF#. Free game analysis for all players by NM Adam Weissbarth or NM Peter Minear. Online registration is $22 before midnight Wednesday or $27 Friday before noon. Registration by mail is $27. On-site registration ($35) is from 12:00-12:30 for the rated sections and from 2:00 - 2:30 for the unrated sections. Chess sets provided, but bring a clock if you have one.
