Silver Knights Team Tournament

Play in our first-ever scholastic team championship!

Teams consist of a team captain (parent or coach) and four players from the same school (grades K-8 only). The tournament is not USCF-rated, so you DO NOT need to be a USCF member to play. The players on the team are ranked from board 1 (strongest player) through board 4 (weakest). If the players have USCF ratings, the USCF-rated players go on the higher boards and must be in order of rating. Team captains are responsible for determining the board order of unrated players, and should make an effort to place the stronger players on higher boards.

Each school team plays four matches against other schools. Each match is made up of four games. If one school wins 2.5 or more games, that school wins the match. If both schools win 2 games, the match is a draw. At the end of the tournament, the school that wins the most matches is the tournament champion.

The tournament is non-elimination, so all teams get to play all four matches. Round times: 10:00, then ASAP. Time control: G/30 or G/25 with a 5-second delay. The top teams and individual players on each board win trophies. The tournament will end with an awards ceremony around 2:00.

Free game analysis for all players. Online registration is $60 by Saturday, November 8; $70 by Wednesday, November 12; $80 by noon on Friday, November 14. On-site registration ($100) is from 9:00-9:30. Chess sets provided, but bring a clock if you have one.

Multiple teams from the same school are allowed. If a school is sending multiple teams, they should be registered as the "A" team, the "B" team, the "C" team, etc. Teams from the same school will not be paired against each other.
