Philadelphia Area Chess Tournaments
Most of our scholastic chess tournaments have two sections: K-6 U/700 and K-12 Championship. The U/700 section is great for beginning and intermediate elementary school players, and the K-12 section is for middle and high school players, as well as higher-rated elementary schoolers. Trophies are awarded to the top individuals and school teams. Unless otherwise noted, all tournaments are USCF-rated. To see more information or to register online, click the "Register Here" button for the tournament you are interested in attending. If you are a new chess parent or have questions about the tournament process, feel free to browse through our Tournament FAQs or contact us.
Our Friday Night Action adult tournaments are usually held on the third Friday of every month in the Bryn Mawr Community Center. They are open to chessplayers of all ages, and typically include skill levels from beginning elementary school students up through the best adult players in the state.
Online registration for scholastic events is available until noon the day before the tournament. Online entry for adult events is available until 5:00 PM the day of the tournament. To get the lowest entry fee, register early and online. On-site registration is available at all tournaments at an increased fee.
Our scholastic tournaments feature free analysis of student games for players in the scholastic sections by a National Master.
