In the 1990s, Stan Ritvin was one of the most successful scholastic chessplayers ever to come from Philadelphia. He won the 1996 K-8 national championship, the same year he became a National Master. As a high school player, Stan was a member of four national championship teams from the Julia R. Masterman School. For three of those years, he was the team’s highest-rated player. |
